Label Replacement at Bakery
Situation
Bakery looking to replace 2″ x 4″ labels on their corrugated cartons; printing extensive information, including an I 2 of 5 bar code for internal tracking purposes.
Approach
Smart-Jet® DUO print controller with two (2) MAX Printheads installed on conveyor to print the the information directly on the box.
Issues
By eliminating the need for the labels, we helped the bakery achieve significant cost savings. They no longer have to purchase the labels, reducing material expenses, and the labor previously required to apply them manually has been eliminated. Furthermore, efficiency has dramatically improved since the Smart-Jet DUO now prints directly onto the box as it passes through the case sealer, seamlessly integrating with their production line.
Results
Customer is printing directly on the box, eliminating the need to manually apply labels. This has reduced the additional labor required for manual label application, and has eliminated the label cost per box. The direct printed cartons are also easier and more efficient to recycle.
