OEM & Integrator
Easy-to-Integrate, Reliable Printing Solutions
Add proven Smart-Jet® coding technology to your systems with ease
Smart-Jet® printers are an excellent option for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and integrators due to its low complexity, minimal maintenance, and ease of integration. These benefits enable integrators to incorporate high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective marking and coding capabilities into their larger manufacturing systems.

Modular design: Smart-Jet® printers are compact and lightweight, and can be integrated seamlessly into existing equipment with minimal modification. Modular printheads can be stitched together to accommodate larger print heights and mounted in flexible positions for difficult-to-access applications.
Easy setup: Smart-Jet® printers have fewer moving parts than other technologies, such as Continuous Inkjet (CIJ), allowing for faster and simpler installation.
Low maintenance: Smart-Jet® printers feature an integrated printhead cartridge, with the ink supply and printhead combined. Replacing the ink automatically replaces the key wear component. This design eliminates the need for expensive, recurring maintenance contracts and technician visits. Unlike Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) systems, which require regular cleaning and flushing, TIJ technology in Smart-Jet® printers does not require maintenance during operation. Integrators can deliver a more reliable, “zero-maintenance” solution to end-users, simplifying long-term support.
Command Protocol Language for Remote Printer Control: Smart-Jet® printers feature POD (Print On Demand) Printer Command Protocol capability, enabling system integrators to write programs to control printer operation from a PLC, PC, or other smart device. Using the POD programming language, you can “bury” the printer inside your equipment and control it from your own HMI/GUI, so it is a seamless part of your overall system.
Instant start-up: Smart-Jet® printers start and stop instantly, so they do not require the long warm-up or shutdown cycles of alternative technologies. This reduces overall downtime on the production line.
Superior Resolution: Smart-Jet® printers offer high-resolution printing, up to 600 x 600 dpi, producing clear, legible text, logos, bar codes, and 2D symbols (QR Code, Data Matrix). This is crucial for applications like pharmaceutical serialization and Sunrise 2027, particularly when printing GS1 DataMatrix and GS1 QR Codes.
Substrate Adaptability: With the advances in ink technology, from water-based inks to solvent and UV-curable inks, Smart-Jet® printers can print on a wide range of surfaces. This includes porous materials like cardboard, as well as non-porous surfaces such as plastics, glass, and metal. Pigmented inks provide water and fade resistance, expanding the range of applications even wider.
Flexible Printing Capabilities: Smart-Jet® printers can print fixed and variable data such as lot codes, barcodes, expiration dates, and QR codes, which is essential for traceability and regulatory compliance. The ability to quickly swap cartridges also allows for fast changes between ink colors or formulations.
Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO)
Lower upfront cost: The initial capital investment for a Smart-Jet® printer is often significantly lower than for complex Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) systems.
Minimized waste: Smart-Jet® printers utilize drop-on-demand technology. With drop on demand thermal ink jet, the printer uses only the ink required for printing, eliminating waste and reducing consumable costs. This is in contrast to CIJ, which continuously sprays and recaptures ink via a circulating, continuous fluid system.
Clean and environmentally friendly: Smart-Jet® printers are cleaner to operate and do not produce harmful solvent vapors like CIJ systems, reducing safety risks and the need for special ventilation. This also lowers energy consumption, which reduces operational costs and improves sustainability.
